So a tetra blanket, or simply "tetra", here, is the gauze-like, loose cotton knit cloth used very often in baby care. Like the good monkey that I am I copied the way I saw it folded while in the baby hotel that we stayed in after the birth. The tetra was folded into a square and placed under the babies head in the stroller. It took me a nice couple of months but I fell in love with a new method. Maybe others do this all the time, but I felt as though I had invented the wheel. Aha!
If someone had told me that my diaper bag would mostly remain packed all the time and that all I would have to do before leaving the house with child, would be to pretty much just double check that I still have enough diapers and clean "tetra" cloths in there ... I would have been at least 50% less nervous about having a baby. I just couldn't imagine myself getting all that sh*t together everyday and still feeling calm. I looked at mothers with babies as if they were aliens with special powers before it was my turn. And in a way, I still look at mothers this way. How does that getting-from-here-to-there happen with those tiny ones?! If you are anything like me, you might want to read on. if you are an alien with special powers, drop me a note with a detailed explanation :). About a month after Yuval was born, I sat myself down and created some list for what I would needed when I preformed certain activities with our baby, such as leaving the house, bathing her, diapering her and calming her. Truth be told, once I created the lists, printed them and posted them around the house, I rarely needed them because their content was imprinted on my brain. Even so, they might help someone else as they can be customized to fit each babies needs. What we need when we ...
When I was pregnant, all I wanted was lemonade, LEMONADE! We got into the lavish habit of squeezing a couple lemons and melting the sugar or honey in boiling water, adding water, then cooling it with ice ... Now that we have a little sprout, we still want that sweet-sour coolness but we have much less time to prepare this luxury for each meal. The craving did not only stay with me it became contagious and Yoav also wants to gulp down dinner or lunch with some cool lemonade. So where is the hack, you ask ... Indeed! We cut up lemons into some fourths (let's say), melt some sugar or honey in some left over water that we have boiled for the baby's bottles, bring all that to the dinner table with a pitcher of water and everybody goes to town to get lemonade between bites. Lemonade, one minute per glass!
Usually I would say that it's best to avoid the dentist ... but if you are already there, why not pick up a tip or two. My dentist, Dr. Alona Emodi, used these clips to hang tissue packets from her equipment. I thought that it might be nice to use them to position wipes and tissues around the house and in our car, so here you go! |
